Icarus 1 and 2: a striking series of two double-sided accordion books featuring stitched collage using gelliprints made with earth pigments. I did some minimalist stitching with black sewing thread and wrote some poetry to compliment the theme, my response to the Greek myth about Icarus and his father.
In my continuing quest to use only natural media in my art, I have developed a technique using earth pigments and natural binders to make gelliprints on both paper and cloth.
The prints are my own one-off original designs; the poetry is also original and hand-written.
Mounted on khadi (cotton rag) paper (210 gsm)
