Words 2026

I’m so excited to be hosting my very first year-long project!

We are keeping it very simple:

1. Choose fabrics and threads in your preferred colour scheme OR be completely random.
2. Be inspired by a single word which I will draw from my little cottage pot during my weekly video on YouTube (channel: YouTube.com (gonerustic).
3. Each week, make a handstitched 5 in x 5 in square* using scraps and recycled fabrics if you can; the last thing I want is for you to go to great expense!
4. if you wish, back your square with some old sheet or other lightweight material with invisible baste before stitching down your design.
5. Play with your materials and be open to possibilities.
6. Remember to share your progress and ideas etc in the group (scroll down for details). If you are on Instagram please tag your posts with #words2026 OR @gonerustic.

As we go along I will share ideas on what to make with your squares, but I encourage you to have your own thoughts about that also.
