Click here or on the image below to view the video.

Notes:

1.Prepare 2 or more different colours of your earth paints as before.

2. Select some A5 sized papers for your backgrounds.

3. Cut your bubble wrap to the size you would like; also if you have any rubber stamps with textured designs bring those to your work table as well. You can also use anything else with raised surfaces which you find around the place - experiment!

4. Using a brush, paint on the rough side of the bubble wrap with either one colour or a combination of colours. Press it onto your paper or fabric background with your hands, then remove carefully. You can wash and reuse this many times.

5. Do the same with the stamps or other textured objects

Notes:

1.Prepare 2 or more different colours of your earth paints as before.

2. Select some A5 sized fabrics for your backgrounds.

5. Do the same with the stamps or other textured objects, again on either paper or fabric.

6. Try the above techniques on other surfaces, eg. black or coloured paper, or some of the papers you painted in Week 3.

7. Put aside to dry, then brush off any loose particles with your hands or a brush. Seal again with shellac, matt medium or diluted pva glue (paper only).

8. You can also try scratching or scraping into the wet paint to make textures and lines. Use sticks, skewers, old credit cards etc. I didn't have much success with this but you might!

About your tutor - I am a designer, artist and teacher, living and working in rural northeast Tasmania, Australia. My heritage is Dutch; I was born in Canada but have lived here for many years. This is now my home! I have been stitching and making art for most of my life, and my work has been published internationally, featured in many exhibitions and won numerous awards. However, my main drivers are a love of creating, and developing opportunities to encourage others.

[B. Ed (Art major, distinction); Dip. Art Craft Design (Textiles)]

The right environmentI like to play music while I'm working. Music is a big part of my life and it helps me relax, be in the moment, and distracts me from my tinnitus (which is severe). Choose music you love, nothing too upbeat, sit comfortably at a table which is not too low or too high, and you will soon enter 'the zone'!
