This unique sleeveless coat is made from a grey vintage wool blanket. I ecoprinted the pattern pieces before they went into the dyepot, which I free cut using zerowaste principles . The armhole cutouts became pockets and the piece I cut from the collar to shape it became a feature on the front. I also visibly mended the fabric in several places on the back using finely knitted samples, needlefelting and darning, adoing to its ‘story’. Lastly, I sewed on a large button and handstitched the buttonhole (under the collar at centre front).
NB - the blue blanket-stitched collar edging was original to the blanket.
Eco printed with eucalyptus and rusty cans. Simmered in my ongoing dyepot.
