Call for entries! An exhibition about shelter
A couple of definitions:
-something that provides cover or protection, as from weather or danger
-a covered place, which provides protection to humans, animals and birds from their surroundings
The brief:
Make an A4-sized* stitched artwork inspired by the theme of shelter using mostly upcycled and/or found materials
What does shelter mean to you? What aspect of shelter could inspire you to make new artwork? Here are some ideas to help you get started:
-hearth/home
-canopy/trees
-nest/burrow
-shed/barn
-umbrella/raincoat
-cave/ledge
-bunker/tunnel
-temporary/permanent
-verandah/porch
-tent/caravan
-lack of shelter/vulnerable
[*A4 (portrait orientation only), ie 21 cm W x 29.7 cm H 1.5 cm D, or 8.3 in W x 11.7 in H x 0.5 in D]
Return of artwork:
Please ensure you select the correct payment option when you submit your entry. There are 3 options for overseas, national and local entrants.
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS + Entry form:
These include all of the above plus how to prepare your work for hanging and possible materials. This document will be emailed to you once you’ve entered. Please read BEFORE creating your artwork or your work may risk not being hung. Having said that I have never not hung an entry in over 20 years of operation
NB – framed artworks are ineligible due to cost of postage and risk of breakage
MAXUMUM NO OF ENTRIES: 30
The maximum relates to available space but I will do my best to display your entry to its best advantage if we surpass this number.
